Jenny Craig Diet Pros and Cons
73Jenny Craig Diet Pros (why it works)
First off, Jenny started out in the fitness industry in the 60's and found success in establishing weight loss centers around the US in the mid 80's. So the company has been around for a long time with a history of helping people lose weight, biggest "pro". In the late 90s the company went online like most, and started selling meal supplements. Today Jenny Craig's Diet Plan is mostly known for it's online meals and delivery plans.
The weight loss theory behind Jenny Craig is sound and time tested, online or in books there are tools on how to lose, manage, or maintain weight. You still have to take responsibility for changing your habits to a healthier lifestyle. The better control you have, the better your chances for success. Jenny encourages you to write down and share your thoughts, outline your strategies, record your goals. Your success still comes from within, you just need to tap into it.
Overall Jenny Craig focuses on a balanced eating choices and does not eliminate any of the food groups. Plan on eating lean protein, whole grains, pasta, fruits, vegetables, and even desserts. If you get the meal plan it is very convenient, but there are equally good recipes online or cook-books that you can get very cheap, which is the best "Pro". You don't have to spend allot of money to do this diet, unless you want to.
Jenny Craig Diet Cons (why some people fail)
One of the biggest "cons" to this diet is the cost if you choose the meal delivery option. Even though if you really look at your grocery bill it is not that much more than you would spend on everyday food items and you will not be spending as much on dining out.
Another "con" is that if you have food preferences or dietary needs the meal delivery plans do not accommodate allergy specific needs, such as dairy, eggs, gluten, corn or peanuts.
It is very difficult to find a "con" with the advice of this diet or any of the recipes in the books. If you have the money and are not a picky eater, this might be the plan for you. If you don't have the money for the delivery meals, or like a diet more individualized to your taste, the books are a cheap option. Even cheaper is the previews of the books. Amazon will let you see the first 14 pages of "Jenny Craig's Simple Pleasures Recipes..."
This diet is still working for people after 4 decades of business, so there has to be more "pros" than "cons" no matter how you look at it.
